Yes, you read the title of this article right! In Las Vegas, you can enjoy a decadently rich $750 cupcake. It’s called the “Decadence D’or” and is served at the Venetian and Palazzo resorts.
When I first read about it, I couldn’t imagine any combination of ingredients that could possibly go into a cupcake that would result in such a hefty price tag for such a small treat. So I dug into what exactly that put in this thing, and I was amazed!
It starts from a humble beginning as a crumbly red velvet cake in the base. From there, it’s filled with a rich chocolate ganache and a vanilla bean caviar that’s prepared by hand.
Then it’s topped with a hand-blown sugar Fleur-De-Lis that is then filled with a Louis XVIII cognac that retails for over $2,500.
And because that couldn’t possibly be enough… the whole thing gets a chocolate dome that is covered with 14 karat gold flakes, gold caviar, and the cognac emblem.
You have to special order this treat since obviously they aren’t making any without a special request. And you can enjoy having it hand-delivered to your room.
So far, over a dozen of these have been sold since 2009 when it was first created.
